Tampa Bay ITE (better known as TBITE) is the Tampa Bay Area Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. The Tampa Bay ITE Chapter was founded on March 26, 2002 in conjunction with the 2002 ITE Technical Conference in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Members of the Tampa Bay ITE Chapter elected an executive board and drafted a Charter and Bylaws that would expand the mission and purpose of the Institute of Transportation Engineers deeper into the Tampa Bay Area. All ITE members and transportation professionals within Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Highlands and DeSoto counties are eligible to become TBITE Chapter Members.
ITE members and transportation professionals in other surrounding areas are also welcome to join TBITE. The chapter is growing in strength and currently has more than 100 members A membership fee of $10 per year is collected from each member in January toward Chapter activities. TBITE organizes lunch meetings every quarter, social functions and an Annual Awards banquet.
